benefits of flag football

Flag football is one of our country’s fastest-growing sports. While youth sports participation is down overall, flag football is growing by over 38% a year. The Pro Bowl transition to flag and being included as an Olympic sport should only accelerate that growth. Here are the leading benefits of flag football based on a recent NFL survey:

1. Favors Inclusivity
A great sport for boys and girls of all ages. Everyone on the team gets a chance to snap, run, pass, catch, and play defense regardless of age or weight. No one on the team is too big or small to run the ball, so everyone will experience every aspect of the game.

2. Offers Flexibility
Supports all levels of skill and experience from a non-intimidating introduction to the sport all the way to off-season skill development for tackle players. 72% of surveyed parents agree flag football is useful and/or necessary before transitioning to tackle football

3. Promotes Fitness
Fast-paced games/practices with smaller teams provide regular physical activity to kids to help them stay away from their screens

4. Introduces Football
Introduces all the foundational concepts of football without the costly equipment and physical contact.

5. Teaches Teamwork
Teaches kids how to work together as a team and the #1 benefit of surveyed parents. Not only do kids get to play with old and new friends but they get to wear amazing gear from their favorite NFL teams.

6. Builds Confidence
Equips children with the skills and experience to build confidence

7. Instills Sportsmanship
Teaches kids that things may not always go their way and that there are winners and losers in competition.
